Wrinkle Fillers and Volumizers, New Orleans
Wrinkles develop for a variety of reasons including age, sun damage, and facial expressions. Injectable wrinkle fillers and volumizers in New Orleans are available to plump the dermal and deeper layers of the skin. Wrinkles around the mouth, cheek, and chin (known as marionette lines) are particularly well suited for improvement with injectable fillers. Acne scars can also be smoothed out with fillers. Most wrinkle filler treatments are effective immediately and, other than a few hours of minor swelling, require very little recovery.
A variety of hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers have been introduced into the United States in the past few years. Drs. William and Patrick Coleman were selected to perform the research which lead to FDA approval of many of these. One of the most popular is Juvederm which is composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance found in all mammals. Another is Restylane, and a newer one is Beletero. Juvederm is extremely well tolerated and is especially useful in improving deep wrinkles around the mouth and grooves under the lower eyelids. Both Drs. Coleman often layer Juvederm to achieve a two-layered improvement in wrinkles. They also frequently use Juvederm to improve flat lip borders or to enlarge thin lips. Restylane Lyft is a thicker form of Restylane that is injected deeper to lift deeper folds and wrinkles. Other hyaluronic acid fillers we use include Beletero, Voluma, Vollure, and Volbella. Treatments typically last for about 8 to 12 months and can also be used on the lips, cheeks, temples, and other areas of the face, and even on the backs of the hands. Voluma® is a hyaluronic acid which has been optimized for creating volume, especially in the cheeks and may last even longer. With our vast experience with fillers, Drs. William and Patrick Coleman can tell you which one is the best for you.
Radiesse is a totally different type of wrinkle filler. It consists of smooth calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres and is not only used for the correction of lines around the mouth and nose but can also be used to create more volume in the cheeks, chin, under the eyelids, and on the hands. Both Drs. Coleman inject Radiesse to fill out unevenness in the chin and to smooth out irregularities in the nose. In some cases, Radiesse or other fillers can be used in place of nose surgery.
The FDA has approved poly-l-lactic acid, also known as Sculptra, for deep tissue augmentation in patients with facial atrophy due to disease. Sculptra may also be used for the improvement of sunken cheeks due to aging. It is generally well tolerated, especially when used with new dilution methods and gradually deposited in small droplets over several treatment sessions.
The Metairie dermatologists at our practice use only FDA approved wrinkle fillers to be sure that their patients receive treatments that are proven to be safe. Both Drs. William and Patrick Coleman have been among the few select investigators chosen to perform FDA trials to determine the safety of many of the wrinkle fillers available today and in the future.
